Yunnan (South of the Clouds), bordering Tibet, Burma, Laos and Vietnam, is one of the most diverse and interesting Chinese provinces, home to a wide variety of Chinese minority groups.

Note: This tour includes some hiking to fully experience the natural side of China.

Day 1:

• Fly to Lijiang via Kunming. Check-in at your hotel located in Lijiang's Old town
• Partake in a delicious dinner at a Naxi minority restaurant

Day 2:

• Visit the local market where the citizens of Lijiang shop for their daily groceries and members of Yunnan’s 24 ethnic groups man their market stalls and greet everyone with a smile.
• Climb atop a famous hill in Lijiang for a perfect scenic view from above of the Old Town which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site
• Enjoy a lunch and the rest of the afternoon at your leisure to explore the beautiful shops and walk along the cobble stoned alleys.
• At night, watch a minority music performance at the famous Dongba Palace Theatre

Day 3:

• Relax on a 3 hr. drive to Qiaotou Town at the mouth of the Tiger Leaping Gorge
• Hike through some of the gorge-the walk is relatively easy with spectacular views of the gorge and the Yangtze River (approx 3 hrs)
• Arrive at the Naxi Family Guest House situated halfway up the gorge at 2400 metres.

Day 4:

• Enjoy a 1 hour hike down the mountain and view the Tiger Leaping Stone
• Continue your journey deeper into the old Tibetan area of Yunnan province and walk through a Tibetan village.
• Relax on a drive to the famous town of Shangri-La, also called Zhongdian or Gyelthang by the local Tibetan people and enjoy a delicious dinner at your hotel.

Day 5:

• Visit a Tibetan Monastery and see the Lamas
• Enjoy a walk through the Tibetan village and experience the Tibetan way of life
• Eat lunch with a local Tibetan family
• Spend the rest of your afternoon and evening exploring this magnificent city

Day 6:

• Enjoy a delicious breakfast at your hotel and then fly back to Shanghai
